The Morning Brief

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that police confirmed a pedestrian died following a crash in the east Las Vegas Valley. Remnants and tropical moisture from Tropical Storm Rachel brought heavy rain and gusty winds to the area, flooding sections of the valley and resulting in the wettest day in a year with record daily rainfall, according to reports from KVVU, KTNV, KLAS, and the Las Vegas Review-Journal. KVVU also reported that high winds led to the cancellation of the final day of the Age of Chivalry festival in Las Vegas. In local sports, the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Las Vegas Sun reported that UNLV defeated North Dakota State 13-7, while the Las Vegas Raiders suffered a road loss to the New England Patriots, during which quarterback Fernando Mendoza made his NFL debut.
