Flood Watch
“Flood Watch issued October 29 at 3:45AM HST until October 29 at 6:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI”
A trough over the eastern half of the state will continue to focus return showers to the islands through the day. Pockets of heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms may produce flash flooding over Maui and Hawaii Counties. * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Molokai, Lanai, Maui, Kahoolawe and Big Island. * WHEN...Through this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A trough continues to lay over the eastern half of the state within a very moist and fairly unstable environment. Energy moving up from the southwest may initiate return periods of moderate to locally heavy rainfall. This rain has a high probability of focusing on Maui and Hawaii Counties. Locally moderate to heavy showers, with possible isolated thunderstorms, may produce short-lived intense rain rates through the day.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

River levels are shown against their usual, but not yet judged. A gauge’s usual here is its range of October monthly averages; the reading is the latest 15-minute value, which a passing rain or dry spell can carry outside that range. So no river gauge makes this county Unusual For Here until we compare each day with the same day’s history.

A gauge’s usual is its range of October monthly averages over its record (USGS).
