Flood Watch
“Flood Watch issued October 28 at 11:34AM AKDT until October 30 at 4:00PM AKDT by NWS Anchorage AK”
* WHAT...Small stream and localized urban flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Seward. * WHEN...From Thursday evening through Friday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive rainfall may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris. Flooding may occur in poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A strong frontal system with an atmospheric river of moisture will move over the southern Kenai Peninsula Thursday through Friday. Although light rain will begin Thursday morning, a period of heavy rain is expected late Thursday evening through Friday morning before the rain slowly tapers off Friday afternoon. Rainfall rates of up to a quarter of an inch per hour are possible between 10 PM Thursday and 10 AM Friday, with a storm total between 3 and 4 inches of rain likely with event. Prolonged heavy rain may lead to areas of flooding along smaller streams and creeks, in low-lying and poor drainage areas, and ponding of water on roadways. - Http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
Stay tuned to further developments by listening to your local radio, television, or NOAA Weather Radio for further information. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. Flooding may occur in poor drainage areas. Storm drains should be kept clear of debris as much as possible.

River levels are shown against their usual, but not yet judged. A gauge’s usual here is its range of October monthly averages; the reading is the latest 15-minute value, which a passing rain or dry spell can carry outside that range. So no river gauge makes this county Unusual For Here until we compare each day with the same day’s history.

A gauge’s usual is its range of October monthly averages over its record (USGS).

Each line is the source's own fields, linked to the source. Unusual is this county against its own history, never against other counties. FRA posts about three months after an accident, so its lines are reported, not breaking. Bird flu detections are reported in our words with a link to USDA APHIS; its records are not reproduced. iNaturalist observations are shown only under CC0 or CC-BY, with the observer credited; others are counted. Observations with an obscured location are never placed on a county.
