* WHAT...For the High Wind Warning, east winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts 55 to 70 mph expected. For the Wind Advisory, east winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts 50 to 60 mph expected. * WHERE...From central Pima County eastward excluding northern Graham and Greenlee Counties. * WHEN...For the High Wind Warning, from 11 PM Thursday to 11 PM MST Friday. For the Wind Advisory, from 11 PM Friday to 2 PM MST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages will be possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Strong and gusty winds over desert areas could result in blowing dust, briefly lowering visibility below a mile at times. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...For the High Wind Warning the strongest winds are expected on the leeward (west) sides of the mountains. Terrain gaps and east-west oriented valleys will also be susceptible to strong winds.
People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
